Where to begin?  I guess I'll start with last night.  Deb and I were Camping at Pattison State Park which is where I finished on Tuesday and started  yesterday.  After I finished yesterday we went back to our campsite and had dinner.  As we were eating and then chilling the weather forecast of severe weather came to pass.  We soon ended  up in the car hanging out but not for long.  After a couple of beers I couldn't keep my eyes open so I went to the tent and Deb joined me.  The storm (thunder and presumably lightning) was pretty  intense.  The last thing I remembered was telling Deb it might be safer in the car and then I was out - I was so damn beat.  I woke  up at 9 PM and the storm was over and we survived.

Got up this morning early (for me) and we had coffee, breakfast and were packed  up and at the trailhead (20 minutes away) just after 8 AM.  Per the NCT map I just had over 5 miles left but once I was done I had to backtrack a mile to the trailhead.  It was muddy - crazy muddy.  Not everywhere to be fair but it was a slog.  A beautiful day though to be sure.

One of the highlights was passing through a prairie area and I noticed a bunch of milkweed plants and then I noticed Monarch Butterflies - couldn't get pictures though.

2 miles into today's hike I entered Minnesota only to reenter Wisconsin 2 miles later - the end of the Wisconsin Segment is where the Superior Hiking Trail begins.

Did I mention it was muddy today?

At the western terminus of the Wisconsin Segment of the NCNST, or the beginning of the Superior Hiking Trail 🤔

In the next couple of days I'll post my reflections, summary and thoughts on this adventure.  Without the support of Deb lending me her car when mine died and spending days shuttling me around northern Wisconsin this would have taken weeks (months) longer - thanks my love.
